The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2026 (DIFF 2026) runs from 30 May to 11 July, making it the longest fireworks season in the event’s history. Six competition nights spread across six weeks. Ten teams from nine countries. Every show launched over the Han River in the centre of the city.
If you are planning a summer trip to Vietnam, DIFF is the one event worth building your itinerary around. This guide covers the full schedule, ticket prices, where to watch, and everything you need to arrive prepared.

What Is DIFF?
DIFF stands for Da Nang International Fireworks Festival. It started in 2008 as a small competition and has grown into one of the biggest annual fireworks events in Asia. The festival was recognised by Travel + Leisure Asia as one of the world’s must-experience summer festivals in 2026, the only Vietnamese event on the list.
The format is simple. International pyrotechnics teams compete head-to-head on designated Saturday nights. Each team performs a 20 to 22-minute fireworks display synchronised to music, lighting, and artistic storytelling. A panel of judges scores the shows, and the top teams advance to the grand finale.
The venue is the Han River Port area in central Da Nang, with the official grandstand built along Tran Hung Dao Street. The fireworks are launched from barges on the river, so the entire display reflects off the water. It is a genuinely impressive setting.
DIFF 2026: Theme and Competing Teams
This year’s theme is “Da Nang – United Horizons”, chosen to mark a new era for the city following the administrative merger of Da Nang and Quang Nam. Each competition night explores a chapter of that story: Nature, Heritage, Culture, Creative, Vision, and the finale, United Horizons.
Ten teams from nine countries are competing, including four first-timers. Vietnam has two entries: the local Da Nang Fireworks Team and Z21 Vina Pyrotech.
| Team | Country / Territory |
| Da Nang Fireworks Team | Vietnam |
| Z21 Vina Pyrotech | Vietnam |

| National team | France |

| National team | Italy |

The grandstand is divided into six zones: VVIP, A VIP, A1, A2, A3, and A4. VVIP and A VIP are in the centre, closest to the stage. A1 and A2 flank the centre. A3 and A4 are the outermost sections.

Best Places to Watch the Fireworks
You do not need a grandstand ticket to see the fireworks. Da Nang offers plenty of viewing options, from free riverside spots to rooftop bars. Here is a quick comparison:
| Spot | Cost | View Quality | Best For |
| Official Grandstand | Ticketed | Best (direct, with sound) | Full experience |
| Dragon Bridge | Free | Great (diagonal angle) | Photos, atmosphere |
| Han River Bridge | Free | Great (direct line) | Budget watchers |
| Thuan Phuoc Bridge | Free | Good (panoramic, distant) | Photographers |
| Rooftop bar / hotel | Drink minimum | Good (elevated) | Couples, comfort |
| Han River cruise | Varies (book ahead) | Unique (on-water) | Special occasion |
Official Grandstand (Tran Hung Dao Street)
The best view and the best sound. The grandstand faces the launch barges directly, with a professional sound system that synchronises the music to the pyrotechnics. You also get access to the pre-show entertainment. The trade-off: you pay for your seat, and leaving after the show involves crowds.
Dragon Bridge
Da Nang’s most iconic landmark doubles as a free viewing spot. The diagonal angle from the bridge gives a wide-screen perspective on the display. Arrive two to three hours early to claim a spot. The bridge closes to vehicle traffic on DIFF nights, so it becomes a massive pedestrian zone.
Han River Bridge and Thuan Phuoc Bridge
Han River Bridge offers a more direct line of sight to the launch area. Thuan Phuoc Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in Vietnam, is further out but gives a panoramic cityscape view. Both are free. Thuan Phuoc is the better choice for photographers who want the full skyline in the frame.
Rooftop Bars and River-Facing Hotels
Several rooftop bars and hotels along the Han River offer fireworks viewing with drinks and food. You skip the street-level crowds and get an easy exit after the show. Expect a minimum spend or a cover charge on DIFF nights. Book a river-facing room if you want the most relaxed experience of all.
Han River Cruise
A handful of operators run fireworks cruises on DIFF nights. You watch the show from the water, which is a unique angle. Availability is limited, so book well ahead. Confirm the departure point and boarding time before the night; getting to the pier through DIFF traffic is half the challenge.

Practical Tips for DIFF 2026
Da Nang traffic transforms on DIFF nights. Roads around the Han River close early, and the city goes from easy beach town to gridlock. Plan your route before you leave the hotel.
- Transport: Grab is the default for getting around Da Nang, but surge pricing kicks in on DIFF nights. If your hotel is within 2 km of the grandstand, walk. If you are further out, leave at least 90 minutes before showtime.
- Weather: June and July in Da Nang are hot and humid. Temperatures sit around 30-35°C. Wear light clothing, bring water, and carry a hat or umbrella for the wait before the show starts.
- Food and drink: Street food vendors set up around the grandstand area on DIFF nights. Expect banh mi, grilled seafood, and cold drinks. Eat before you settle into your spot; once the crowd packs in, moving is difficult.
- Phone battery: Bring a portable charger. You will be out for three to four hours, and you will want your phone for photos, Grab, and maps.
- Cash: Street vendors around the venue are cash-only. Carry small denominations (200,000-500000 VND notes).

Where to Stay During DIFF Season
DIFF season is peak travel time in Da Nang. Hotel prices rise, and popular properties sell out early. The best area depends on what matters most to you.
| Area | Distance to Grandstand | Budget Range | Vibe |
| Hai Chau (Han River) | Walking distance | Mid to high | City centre, river views |
| My Khe Beach | 10 min by Grab | All ranges | Beach, sunrise, seafood |
| An Thuong | 10-15 min by Grab | Budget to mid | Backpacker-friendly, cafes |

Tips: Book your hotel at least four to six weeks before your DIFF night. Anything closer and you will pay a premium, if you find availability at all.
What Else to Do in Da Nang During Fireworks Season
DIFF nights are Saturdays, which leaves six days a week to explore. Da Nang and the surrounding area have plenty to fill your time.
- My Khe Beach: One of the best urban beaches in Southeast Asia. Swim, surf, or just walk the sand. Best before 9 AM or after 4 PM to avoid the midday heat.
- Ba Na Hills: Home to the Golden Bridge. Take the cable car up, spend half a day. Go on a weekday if possible.
- Marble Mountains: Five limestone hills with Buddhist caves and pagodas. Go early morning before the heat. Allow two hours.
- Hoi An: 30 km south of Da Nang. Ancient town, lantern-lit streets, tailor shops. Easy half-day or full-day trip by Grab or motorbike.
- Local food: Mi Quang, banh xeo, fresh seafood on Vo Nguyen Giap Street. See the full Da Nang food guide for the top ten dishes and where to find them.
Getting to Da Nang for DIFF
Da Nang International Airport (DAD) is just 3 km from the city centre and about 30 km from Hoi An. During DIFF season, airlines add extra capacity on popular routes, but fares climb. Book flights early for the best prices.
The festival transforms Da Nang into a completely different city for six weeks every summer. The Han River lights up, the streets fill with night markets, and the energy is unlike anything else in Vietnam. Whether you grab a grandstand seat or watch from a bridge with a cold beer, DIFF is worth the trip.
If your flight lands during festival season, the energy starts the moment you arrive at the airport. During peak DIFF weekends, Da Nang Airport gets busy. Immigration lines grow longer, and the terminal fills with travelers heading to the same event.
Skip the Queue at Da Nang Airport
After a long flight, the last thing you want is to spend an hour in an immigration line while the city is gearing up for a fireworks show. Fast Track Vietnam’s airport assistance service at Da Nang Airport puts an agent by your side from the moment you land. They guide you through priority immigration lanes, help with your luggage, and get you out of the terminal in minutes instead of hours.
Book your Fast Track service here and start your DIFF trip the right way.
